Decal for Gunpla and Other Mecha

For those that have messed with Bandai model kit should be familar with the decal! What is decal anyway? Explanation here.

So basically Bandai has three types of Decal for their kits! They are differentiate by the color, White (Transparent), Green, and Blue.

White / Transparent type of Decal are know as Dry Transfer Decal. Usually included in most of Bandai MG kits. A very troublesome decal that can easily tear if not apply correctly on the kit. However if applied correctly it will look great on your kit.

Green type are Sticker / Glue type decal. Comes with MG kit and some HG kits. Similar to its name, this type of decal can easily be applied on to the model kits, but most of the time it has some extra bits of transparent decal on to your kit making the surface of the model kit not as smooth as it should be.

Blue type are water tranfer decal, the best out of the two mention. It is smooth and easy to apply, it is like a combination of the 2 mention above. Just cut our the decal and soak it in the water for awhile then place it on your model kit and tear of the transparent layer of the decal. This type of decal are sold separately!

Instruction are give behind of the packaging

Oh before i forget, there is always some sticker that come along with the model kits and most of the time modeller just ignore them because they look really ugly on the model kit! There is also times when you have no choice but to applied them (special effects), best example would be the HG Stargazer Gundam.

They are also a few tools to help us to applied improve the quality of the decal applied, there are Mr. Mark Settler and Mr. Mark Softener.

Mr Mark Settler is applied on the model kits (the area you are gonna place ur decal). It helps make the decal stick better on to the model kit and also prevent the decal from having air trap inside it.

Mr Mark Softener is used to soften the decal so it can stick better on the curves or bending aread of the model kit.

Ok thats all for the short tutorial on the knowledge and tools for applying decal. Wish you luck applying your decal.

Sinanju decal you may need to wait for JP to restock. It may take a few months, besides that i dun think there will be any other choices.

Colexionador: No problem just take them.
